Privacy can be a concern for some people so at EngGo we have created profile options where you can determine whether you want certain information available to everyone, or to no one or to the people you are connected with.

Here is a brief conversation I had with a School about the Messenger status option in their profile:

Narae Kim: I don't think Messenger is needed.
EngGo: You can turn it off.
EngGo: In your profile you can make it invisible.
EngGo: But if you have it - its pretty amazing.
EngGo: We built a system that will allow people with a Skype account or yahoo or any of the messenger type accounts to contact people directly with those accounts or you can create an account just to speak to a specific school or teacher.
EngGo: they can see when you are online
EngGo: they can chat with you
EngGo: imagine that you are hiring a teacher and you want to tell them something. They login - you see they are online
Narae Kim: yeah I like that part. It is good thing. Even it is cheaper to talk to them... free even.
EngGo: You can also choose to hide your messenger information from everyone and you can also choose to only make it visible to people you have connections with. This would mean that if you are going to hire a teacher, you pick him or her
Narae Kim: yeah?
EngGo: then you go to their profile and click CONNECTIONS – that will request a connection to the teacher. The teacher can do the same with you. The other party receives a CONNECTION request and if they accept, they will then be able to see your contact information.
EngGo: If you set your messenger status stuff to only be available to people you are connected to and then you don't have to worry about spammers or being interrupted all the time if contact from other random teachers or schools becomes a problem.
Narae Kim: right.
Narae Kim: actually I like that
Narae Kim: But later, I think it could be happening that people will be ALL invisible and just wait someone contacting
EngGo: Thats fine
Narae Kim: OK
EngGo: If schools or teachers want more contact they will get involved. Some people will be very involved. Some people will just use the allow contact with connections. Thats ok.
